ก่อนจะมาเป็น Rose, Rose I Love You  ต้นฉบับดั้งเดิมเป็นภาษาแมนดาริน ประพันธ์เนื้อภาษาจีนโดย Wu Cun (吳村 ) ประพันธ์ดนตรีโดย Lin Mei (林枚)  บันทึกเสียงร้องครั้งแรกโดย Yao Lee  เมื่อปี 1940  Wynford Vaughan Thomas นำมาเปลี่ยนเป็นเนื้อร้องภาษาอังกฤษ และเรียบเรียงดนตรีโดย Chris Langdon และบันทึกเสียงร้องโดยนักร้องชาวอเมริกัน  Frankie Laine and the Norman Luboff Choir, with Paul Weston and his orchestra, เมื่อ 6 เมษายน 1951,  ขึ้นสู่ชาร์ทเพลงอันดับ 3 ของ Billboard Magazine Music Charts เมื่อปี 1951 และทางฝั่งอังกฤษได้เอาไปทำใหม่โดยมอบให้ Petula Clark เป็นผู้ร้องใช้ชื่อว่า "May Kway"  ได้รับการจัดขึ้นสู่อันดับ 1 จาก The UK Charts เมื่อวันที่ 5 พฤษภาคม 1951 และ Rose, Rose I Love You ได้รับคัดเลือกนำมาเป็นเพลงประกอบภาพยนตร์เรื่อง "The Pillow Book" ในปี 1996 กุหลาบงามเดือนมิถุนายน เดือนมิถุนายนสำหรับทางโลกตะวันตกเป็นช่วง Spring หรือ ฤดูใบไม้ผลิ ต่อกับฤดูร้อน โดยมีการกำหนดทางดาราศาสตร์ให้ประมาณวันที่ 20 – 21 เดือนมิถุนายน เป็นจุดเริ่มฤดูร้อนในประเทศในซีกโลกเหนือ หรือ Northern Hemisphere จนประมาณ 21 กันยายน จะเป็นฤดู Fall หรือ Autumn วันที่ 21 ธันวาคม เริ่ม Winter ซึ่งยาวไปจนถึง 20 มีนาคมจึงเริ่ม Spring การแบ่งนี้เป็นการแบ่งที่เป็นทางการ ส่วนสภาพอากาศจริงในแต่ละพื้นที่ และแต่ละปี อาจเร็วช้าต่างกัน สำหรับวันที่ 21 มิถุนายน จะเป็นวันที่ขั้วโลกเหนือมี 24 –hour – daylight คือมีแสงแดดตลอด 24 ชั่วโมง ในขณะที่ที่ขั้วโลกใต้ก็เป็น 24-hour-night คือเป็นเหมือนตอนกลางคืน 24 ชั่วโมงเช่นเดียวกัน ถ้าพูดถึงเดือน June ชาวตะวันตกมักจะนึกถึงดอกกุหลาบ เพราะกุหลาบจะงามมากในเดือนนี้ และเมื่อจะเปรียบเทียบความงามของอะไรสัอย่าง ก็จะเปรียบว่า “as pretty as a rose in June “ ซึ่ง  Robert Burns กวีชาวสก็อตแลนด์ซึ่งมีชีวิตอยู่ตั้งแต่สมัย 250 ปีมาแล้ว มีผลงานที่ชื่อ “O My Love’s Like a Red, Red Rose “ กวีบทนี้เปรียบหญิงที่รักว่า งามเหมือนกุหลาบในเดือนมิถุนายน    My Love’s like a red, red rose That’s newly sprung in June O, My Love’s like the melody That’s sweetly played in tune
