Diane Ray เกิดเมื่อปี 1942 เธอเป็นนักร้องเพลงป้อป และร้อคแอนด์โรล ในยุคต้นๆ1960s. ผลงานที่ทำชื่อเสียงให้เธอคือซิงเกิลของปี  1963  "Please Don't Talk To the Lifeguard" จากผลงานการประพันธืเนื้อร้องและดนตรีโดย Sylvia Dee and George Goehring. บันทึกเสียงร้องโดย  Diane Ray จาก North Carolina. ได้รับการจัดให้เป็นเพลงฮิตในลำดับที่ 31 ของอเมริกา  เมื่อปี 1963  และผลงานเพลงนี้ของเธอยังติดอันดับ 13 ของ Canadian Charts เมื่อเดือนกันยายน 1963 อีกด้วย นอกจากเสียงร้องของเธอแล้ว SKEETER     DAVISได้บันทึกเพลงนี้ในเวลาต่อมา เนื้อหาของเพลง เธอบอกว่าโปรดอย่าพูดถึงพนักงานรักษาความปลอดภัยเลย ไม่ต้องแล้ว บอกมาเลยว่าจะไปว่ายน้ำน่ะไปยังไง จะไปพบเขา บุรุษสูง 6 ฟุตผู้มีผิวคล้ำ Dark and handsome
