This Is My Now เป็นเพลงชนะเลิศที่ได้มาจากการประกวด Songwriting Contest ทางเว็บไซต์ของรายการ American Idol เป็นผลงานการประพันธ์ของ Jeff Peabody และ Scott Krippayne. ซึ่งทั้งคู่เป็นแฟนพันธุ์แท้ของรายการ American Idol เพลงนี้ถูกกำหนดมาเป็นเพลงบังคับให้ผู้เข้าแข่งขันร้องในรอบชิงชนะเลิศของซีซั่นที่ 6 ระหว่างวันที่ 22-23 พฤษภาคม 2007 ซึ่งเป็นโชว์รอบสุดท้าย ที่โกดักเทียเตอร์ ระหว่างแชมป์ซีซั่นที่ 5 เทย์เลอร์ ฮิกส์ หนุ่มวัย 29 จากเมืองเบอร์มิงแฮม รัฐอลาบามา ที่ร้องไปเป็นคนแรกในวันที่ 22 พฤษภาคม และ "จอร์ดิน สปาร์คส" สาวน้อยวัย 17  ร้องคนสุดท้ายในวันที่ 23 พฤษภาคม จากนั้นให้ผู้ชมโหวตกันเข้ามาให้ผู้ที่ได้รับคะแนนโหวตสูงที่สุดเป็นผู้ชนะ ซึ่งผู้ที่ล่าฝันครั้งนี้ได้สำเร็จคือเจ้าของอัลบั้มเพลงนี้ Jordin Brianna Sparks   ซีซั่นที่ 1 (2002) - เคลลี่ คลาร์กสัน (Kelly Clarkson) ซีซั่นที่ 2 (2003) - รูเบน สตัดดาร์ด (Ruben Studdard) ซีซั่นที่ 3 (2004) - แฟนตาเซีย บาร์ริโน (Fantasia Barrino) ซีซั่นที่ 4 (2005) - แคร์รี อันเดอร์วูด (Carrie Underwood) ซีซั่นที่ 5 (2006) - เทย์เลอร์ ฮิกส์ (Taylor Hicks) ซีซั่นที่ 6 (2007) - จอร์ดิน สปาร์คส (Jordin Sparks)
