Daniel John Bedingfield เกิดในนิวซีแลนด์ เมื่อ 3 ธันวาคม 1979 แต่มาโตที่อังกฤษแถบตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ของกรุงลอนดอน มีพื้นฐานทางด้านการร้องและแต่งเพลง POP   

วงดนตรีวงแรกของเขาเล่นกับน้องสาว 2 คน  คือ Natasha , และ Nicola ใช้ชื่อวงว่า DNA Algorhythm

อัดแผ่นครั้งแรกในห้องนอนของเขาเอง ด้วยอุปกรณ์ง่ายๆที่มีอยู่ภายในบ้าน จนเดือนธันวาคม 2001 เพลงของเขาขึ้นสู่อันดับสูงสุดของอังกฤษ ด้วย TOP 40 singles chart

เมื่ออายุได้ 21 Gotta Get Thru This อัลบั้มแรกก็ได้รับการผลิตออกสู่ตลาดในสังกัดของ Polydor ประเทศอังกฤษ จากนั้นก็มีผลงานทยอยตามออกมาเรื่อยๆ

จนมาถึงเพลงที่คุ้นหูและเป็นที่ถูกอกถูกใจของคนไทยที่กำลังอินกับความรัก ในเพลง "If You're Not The One" ซึ่งเป็นเพลงที่ 2 ของเขาที่ทะยานขึ้นสู่อันดับ 1 ของอังกฤษ และเพลงที่ 3 ของเขาที่ขึ้นอันดับ 1 เช่นกันคือเพลง  Never  Gonna Leave Your Side

Guinness World Record ลงบันทึกสถิติเรื่องราวที่เขากับน้องสาวนำเพลงจนขึ้นถึงอันดับ 1 ในอังกฤษ
