 Destiny Hope Cyrus เกิดที่ Franklin รัฐ Tennessee เมื่อ 23 พฤศจิกายน 1992 เธอได้รับเชื้อนักร้องมาจากพ่อและนักแสดงมาจากย่า มีพี่ชายเป็นนักร้องและมือกีตาร์ในวงร้อคแบนด์ ตระกูลของเธออีกหลายคนเป็นนักแสดง ใครๆรู้จักเธอในนามของ Miley Cyrus  เพราะ Miley นั้นมาจาก Smiling หรือ Smiley ซึ่งเป็นเพราะเธอยิ้มเก่งและยังน่ารักเหมือนเด็กๆนั่นเอง
เธอเป็นทั้งนักแสดง นักร้อง นักแต่งเพลงสาวชาวอเมริกัน แต่บางครั้งอาจจะรู้จักเธอในชื่อของการแสดงว่า Miley Stewart จากเรื่องแฮนน่าห์ มอนทาน่า ซึ่งเป็นรายการภาพยนตร์โทรทัศน์สำหรับเด็กจากอเมริกา และเป็นรายการที่ได้เข้าชิงรางวัลเอ็มมี่ในสาขารายการเด็กยอดเยี่ยมในปี พ.ศ. 2550 อีกด้วย ซึ่งรายการนี้ออกอากาศครั้งแรกวันที่ 24 มีนาคม  2549 ทาง Disney Channel ในสหรัฐอเมริกา เป็นเรื่องราวเกี่ยวกับเด็กสาวชื่อ Miley Stewart ซึ่งนำแสดงโดยเธอเอง Miley Cyrus ในบทบาทที่เธอต้องใช้ชีวิต "สองด้าน" คือเป็นเด็กวัยรุ่นทั่วไปในตอนกลางวัน และเป็นนักร้องชื่อดัง Hannah Montana ในตอนกลางคืน โดยต้องปกปิดตัวตนของเธอจากทุกคน ยกเว้นครอบครัวและเพื่อนที่สนิทเท่านั้น

 เธอประสบความสำเร็จมากเมื่อเธอรับบทเป็น Hannah Montana ตามบทที่เธอต้องแสดงเป็นนักร้องทำให้เธอมีโอกาสได้ร้องเพลงลงแผ่น CD ถึง 8 เพลง โดยเฉพาะในเพลงเปิดรายการ  ว่ากันว่ารายการนี้มี คนดูสูงถึง 5.4 ล้านคน

ข่าวล่าสุดหนังคอนเสิร์ตของเธอ Hanna Montana & Miley Cyrus : Best of the Both World ซึ่งเป็นบันทึกการแสดงสดของเธอที่เซาธ์เลคซิตี้ ทำลายทุกสถิติที่หนังจะเข้าไปเกี่ยวได้และยังครองอันดับหนึ่งในบ๊อกออฟฟิศอีกต่างหาก

สถิติเป็นหนัง 3 มิติที่ทำรายได้สูงสุด 8,651,758 ดอลลาร์ในวันเปิด และปิดที่ 31,117,834 ในสัปดาห์แรก ทำลายสถิติรายได้เปิดตัวหนังที่ทำรายได้สูงสุดต่อโรง (45,000 ดอลลาร์ต่อโรง) และเป็นอันดับ 2 ของรายได้สูงสุดหนังเปิดตัวที่ฉายไม่ถึง 1,000 โรง (683 โรง) และยังทำลายสิถิติหนังที่ทำรายได้สูงสุดในช่วงซุปเปอร์โบว์ล แถมดิสนีย์ต้นสังกัดยังเปิดฉายเรื่องนี้ต่อไปอย่างไม่มีกำหนด ถึงปัจจุบันทำรายได้ไป 53,390,000 ดอลลาร์แล้ว

เพลง "See You Again" นี้ประพันธ์โดยเธอเอง Miley Cyrus (Destiny Hope Cyrus) ร่วมกับ Antonia Armato, และ Tim James โดยนำมาจากเพลงในอัลบั้ม Hannah Montana 2 : Meet Miley Cyrus. ออกวางจำหน่ายเป็นซิงเกิลเมื่อปลายปี 2007 และมาได้รับความนิยมในปี 2008  จากอันดับที่ 11 เมื่อสัปดาห์ที่แล้ว ปัจจุบันเข้ามาอยู่ในอันดับ TOP 10 ของ The Billboard Hot 100 เมื่อวันที่ 3 พฤษภาคม 2551
